KEN CLEMMER ...

Biographical Information - Photography

Ken Clemmer has been photographing commercially for more than twenty years, gaining experience in many photo specialties. He has taught and trained in various capacities for approximately the same period, conducting private classes and workshops, community college courses, and individual and corporate training.

His journalistic work has appeared in more than a dozen Arizona newspapers in staff, freelance and syndicated form. Topics cover outdoors, travel and recreation, sports, features, and news articles and photos. He also has a long list of magazine and other periodical credits, including editorial staff positions at "The Copper Era" and "Phoenix Home and Garden" magazine.

Current commercial work includes events, industrial, product, portrait and publicity photography for individual and corporate clients. He is equipped and prepared to do many types of on-location assignments as well.

Fine art photography is also a passion of Ken's, with a specialty in black-and-white negative and print making. He has participated in many shows, winning several awards, and he hung his "The Walls" one-man show in 1995.

Ken teaches serious photography at all levels in individual, classroom, and workshop settings, also for individual and corporate clients. The approach and motto is "On Purpose". He teaches via techniques of pre-visualization, wherein images are made in the mind of the photographer and executed by the hardware. He is NOT high-tech hardware driven, feeling that automation often steals the thought process necessary for fine image-making.

Basic photography skills are stressed, regardless of the desired specialty. Though Ken possesses a deep knowledge of much photographic hardware - and owns and demonstrates a wide variety of camera gear - he teaches more dependence on the thought process than on the equipment.

Ken has been a member of the Phoenix-area photographic community for more than 15 years, acquiring a good reputation for knowledgeable service and fair play. Client and publication credits and references are available. Corporate clients include or have included CapPlus Technologies, CableRep Phoenix, Arizona Public Service (Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station), United Parcel Service, Hypercom, Rainbow Imports, Frito-Lay (Tostitos Fiesta Bowl) and many others.

Ken is highly dedicated to the success of his students in their photographic endeavors. Several of his current and former students are working in photographic service occupations and would be pleased to share personal experiences with prospective students and clients. New students may approach photographic training with Camera Company with a confidence in learning valid in-depth skills in an accelerated and interesting manner.
